The short version
A free scan needs no account and no email, and we have no database of scans. The scan runs, the result goes to your browser, and we do not keep a copy. We do not sell anything to anyone.
What we collect
Free scans: nothing that names you or your site, in the ordinary case. Our analytics records that a scan happened and what grade came back — never the address. Page views are counted with no cookie that follows you to other sites.
When a scan fails: the address goes into our server log, and into our error tracker if the failure was one we did not expect. That is the one case where an address we fetched is written down, and it exists so a broken scanner gets fixed.
Paid subscriptions: Polar holds your email address and your card. Neither touches our servers. We see that a licence key is valid, not who owns it.
Who else sees it
Vercel hosts the site and keeps ordinary web-server request logs. Polar is the merchant of record and processes payment. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and scans with no cookie and no cross-site identifier. Sentry records unexpected errors, including the address being scanned when one happens. Each of them sees only what they need to do that job.
How long we keep it
Scan results: we never hold them, so there is nothing to expire. Error records, including any address caught in a failure, for 30 days. Vercel's request logs for as long as Vercel keeps them, which is a matter of days. Polar keeps payment records for as long as the law requires it to.
Your choices
Email mike@gearyworks.com and we will tell you exactly what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We do not need a form or a reason. In most cases the honest answer will be that we hold nothing. We do not send marketing email to anyone who has not asked for it.
Children
Crawlglass is a tool for people running websites and is not intended for anyone under 16.
